(Update: This post has just been pointed out by nimble-fingered reader Kim. Sadly, it seems Denis never received a reply. Maybe the scientists are still mulling over the 'other details' before responding).
(Update #2: Simon has pointed out this article. The 'scientists' have agreed to reply to Denis. I'd call that a result).

Magnificent. In every single way.
Kids rock.
"YOU PUT IN OTHER DETAILS"
True genius knows how to delegate.
So cute!!! It's sad they didn't follow through, or at least reply!!!
Someone, somewhere should be hanging their head in shame.
It was all right there.
is this a co-incidence ?

I absolutely LOVE it. So innocent and cool at the same time. Reminds me of myself when I was a kiddo haha :)
Rolls Royce engine? Hehehehehe
Wonderful! It's a shame they never replied.
I was a 10 or so year old boy on a southern Ontario farm in the sixties and just fascinated with the moon program. I sent a letter to NASA, addressed literally,
TO: NASA
Florida,
United States of America,
with a short handwritten note asking if they could send me any information they had on their different space programs. It was as short and vague as that.
About a month or two later I was out for recess (country school) and my mother drives up very excited. They'd mailed me a package about half an inch thick stuffed with pamphlets and brochures. Stuff that just wasn't available in those days for our area.
What a great thing to do for a boy enthralled with the space program.
@Joaquim: Innocent? Try diabolical! The scientists knew this kid was dangerous and just one step from world domination. All he needed was a world stage to complete his evil plan. They did the right thing; shelve the evil genius's plans until he could be neutralized. Now it's just "cute"... problem solved.
Reminds me of the assignments we sometimes get from our management.
Especially the "you put in other details" part.
Other than that, very cute.
He finally got a reply!

Now that's confidence. Love it.
Similar to the experience of reader "WD", I wrote to the Jet Propulsion Laboratory at CalTech in 1980, asking for pictures from Voyager I. A month or two later, I got a thick stack of color photos of Saturn and Jupiter. I had already given up by then, but it was wonderful stuff -- kudos to the people who designed Voyager I, the people who built it, and the people who understood how magical these images were, especially to children.
I love that he marked the envelope "URGENT". And that they took 52 years to reply.
